Concealed Handgun Permits

Attention New CHP Applicants:

Regarding Legislative changes and HB24-1174 Concealed Handgun Permits, which takes effect on July 1st, 2025, you will need to have a certificate from a verified instructor, showing that you took a class which meets the criteria outlined in HB24-1174. Until July 1st, 2025, the current law remains in effect. 

 

Attention RENEWAL CHP Applicants:

Regarding Legislative changes and HB24-1174 Concealed Handgun Permits, which takes effect on July 1st, 2025, you will need to have a refresher certificate from a verified instructor, showing that you took a refresher class which meets the criteria outlined in HB24-1174. Until July 1st, 2025, the current law remains in effect. 

 


*** Effective July 1, 2024, as per Colorado revised statute 18-12-105.3, it is unlawful for anyone, including concealed handgun permit holders, to carry a firearm in the Adams County Government Center.

Any violation is a Class 1 misdemeanor and subjects an individual to arrest.

 

*** Per Colorado Revised Statutes 18-12-202(5)(b), "...a 'handgun training class' does not include any firearms safety course that allows a person to complete the entire course (i) via the internet or an electronic device." At the time of your appointment, your application will be reviewed for completeness, signed, your picture taken, fees collected, and your fingerprints will be taken.
