Sheriff Gene R. Claps Sheriff Claps was sworn into office on January 10, 2023 and has volunteered and worked for the Adams County Sheriff's Office for over 22 years, since 1995. Sheriff Claps has worked in almost every division, including the Jail, Patrol, Detective, and training units. Sheriff Claps has been a reserve posse deputy, a deputy, a Sergeant, Commander, Captain, and Division Chief during his career. Sheriff Claps was born and raised in Adams County and is very proud of Adams County and the Adams County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Claps aims to transform this Sheriff's Office into a metropolitan leader in law enforcement. To work from our mission, vision, and values with defined direction, support, and leadership to help guide and mentor our staff for the future years to come. Where leadership leads by example and we support our employees and community members equally. Undersheriff Paul Gregory Undersheriff Gregory started his career with the Adams County Sheriff's Office in 2001. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University School for Police Staff & Command. Undersheriff Gregory is committed to the safety of all Adams County residents and the prosperity of all Sheriff's Office employees. The goal of the Undersheriff is to carry out the mission of the Sheriff. |

Professional Standards Division Chief Mike McKinney Chief McKinney has worked for the Adams County Sheriff's Office for 23 years, serving 12 of those years on the SWAT Team. He graduated from Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command and the Metro North Leadership Program. Chief McKinney has worked in a variety of divisions throughout his career. He believes in servant leadership and helping others achieve their career goals. He has a passion for Community Policing and the partnerships proactive efforts foster with the community we serve. |

Detective Division Chief Kevin Currier Division Chief Kevin Currier began his service with the Sheriff's Office in March of 1995. He has worked in the detective division since 2006 as a Detective, Sergeant, Commander, and Critical Incident Team Coordinator and now as the Division Chief. He is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. The Detective Division is responsible for the preparation of and filing of criminal complaints as well as processing all crime scenes, housing all evidence, and providing services and information to victims of crime. We will serve all that we encounter with professionalism, dedication and compassion. |

Jail Division Chief Bill Dunning Division Chief Dunning has 14 year of experience in law enforcement, all in Adams County. In addition, Division Chief Dunning has over 20 year of executive leadership experience and has dedicated most of his life to public service. Division Chief Dunning is a strong proponent of fairness, integrity, and transparency in his service to the citizens of Adams County. |

Training Division Chief John Bungartz Division Chief Bungartz began his law enforcement career with the Adams County Sheriff's Office in August 1986. During his 37 years of service he has worked in every division, with the bulk of his career (28 years) in the Patrol Division. Now as the Division Chief of the Training Division, he is dedicated to sharing his experience and knowledge with new deputies, recruits and cadets. |
